MPOWR Community Users Bridge Belief Gap
August 24, 2020It was a beautiful morning at Beltrami Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota, watching Heritage Youth Sports use the MPOWR Community tool to engage families!
This was my first events since the COVID-19 restrictions lifted, and it was really energizing to see kids having fun on the court, while I helped their parents use the Community tool for the first time. Parents set up accounts through their phones, registered their kids, and digitally signed the participation waiver in a few clicks.
Before Community, program registration required stacks of papers, tables to write on, and parents asking, “Do I need to fill that out again?” Instead, I heard, “that was easy,” and “I finished my profile!” Parents could focus on watching their children playing and having fun. Mike, the program’s founder and coach, was happy that registration, attendance, and payment tracking we’re all done through a digital process – so he didn’t have to spend his evening putting information into a database.
I told parents that Community would help Coach Mike track their child’s participation, and share information and updates with them. And that it’s optional to fill out the full Profile within the tool, but that this extra information about their household would be used to tell the story of Heritage participants for program funders. Everyone created their own account and most were happy to complete a full profile.
A positive and productive Saturday morning in the park!
